GAPP
The Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) is a Medicaid program that provides in-home skilled nursing care and personal care support services to medically fragile children under the age of 21 in the state of Georgia. It’s administered by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH).
Goals:
- To deliver in-home skilled nursing care and/or personal care support services based on a medical necessity assessment for qualified children.
- To ensure the quality of services provided meets the individual medical needs of each child. Physician orders are required for all services.
- To empower caregivers of these children by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary for their child’s care.
Katie Beckett Waiver Program
The Katie Beckett Waiver Program is a Medicaid program for young adults and children (up to age 21) with disabilities. Unlike traditional Medicaid, it doesn’t consider the income of parents or spouses when determining eligibility. This makes it a valuable resource for families who wouldn’t otherwise qualify for Medicaid due to their income level.
Goals:
- Provide Home and Community-Based Services: The program aims to support individuals with disabilities in living at home or in community settings, avoiding institutionalization whenever possible.
- Financial Assistance for Medical Care and Therapy: It offers financial support to cover medical expenses, therapies, and other services crucial for managing a disability. This can include physical disabilities, developmental disabilities like autism, or a combination of both.
- Reduce Reliance on Private Insurance: The Katie Beckett program can help pay for premiums, deductibles, and co-pays associated with private health insurance, easing the financial burden on families.
Private Insurance

Private Pay
Private pay is an option that is fully funded by the patient/family. Nursing care and personal care services are available for in-home or out-of-home support. Private pay can be an option for families in need of additional hours of care not covered by Medicaid or other payers.
