Hi everyone! My name is Melissa English, and I am proud to call myself one of the caregivers here at Advanced Care Partners. I would like to share with all of you what brought me to ACP, as well as what has kept me here for the past 3 years, and I would like to invite other caregivers to join our team!
First, a little about myself. I have been an LPN for the last 7 ½ years, but I have been in the healthcare field for over two decades. During that time, I have worked in several different areas of the healthcare industry. I have worked long term care (both as a CNA and Charge Nurse), assisted living, acute med/surg, trauma, home health care, hospice, and for the last four years of my career, I have worked as a Private Duty Nurse to medically fragile children.
Although every single one of those positions were rewarding in their own way, PDN (private duty nursing) has given me something that no other “job” in nursing was able to give me:
”The ability to REALLY make a difference in a patient’s and their family’s life. A REAL difference.
As healthcare professionals and caregivers, our main goal is to improve the quality of life for our patients. PDN has allowed me to become a true advocate for my patient and their family. Because I only have one patient, I can focus all of my attention, education, and training on that one person, that one case. I can do the research and speak one-on-one with physicians and their care teams, as well as my clinical supervisor, in order to achieve the best outcomes for my patient. This career allows me to sit and speak to the family, and to work with them to improve the overall dynamics and the quality of life for all of them, not just the patient.
And I couldn’t belong to a better team than those here at Advanced Care Partners! Over the last three years, I have found that this team works more like a family than any other workplace that I have been a part of in my 49 years. I have been a part of the ACP family since March of 2017.
The supervisors are there for you if you have clinical questions, no matter what time of the day. The schedulers do everything in their power to work with your existing schedule (for instance, I go to school full time in the evenings and care for a family member) and as close to home as possible.
The management team… what can I say that will actually make you understand how incredible this management team is to their staff? You will never feel like an “employee” at ACP. You will feel like a valuable member of the team. From top to bottom, the ACP family shows respect – to the staff, the family, and the patient.
In this time of public panic, as this pandemic sweeps across our great nation, and through our beautiful state, JOIN OUR FAMILY! Become a part of this team. This team provides families with a sense of security when they see us arrive. We need strong nurses and CNAs that are willing to fight for these beautifully fragile angels.
